Tangle Kelp is a Magical super-rare plant card in Plants vs. Zombies Heroes and a member of the Smarty and Solar classes. It costs 4 to play. It has 3 and 1. It has the Amphibious trait, and it's ability gives a zombie in its lane -2/-2 when it is played, unless said zombie is Amphibious, in which case it destroys it.

As a 2-class card, it can only be used by heroes with both of its classes, namely Rose, Sombrero Bean, The Overleaf, and Sir Spike.

Origins

Tangle Kelp is based on the plant in Plants vs. Zombies and Plants vs. Zombies 2 with the same name. Her appearance better resembles her PvZ2 counterpart. Her ability to destroy zombies in the water is the same as her ability in the other games.

Tangle Kelp is a very effective counter to beefy Amphibious zombies like Deep Sea Gargantuar and Octo Zombie. As only a 4-cost, with said zombies costing 6 and 8 respectively, she is definitely a good counter to them. Even when not used against Amphibious zombies she shines due to her zombie stat reduction. -2/-2 is the equivalent of a Weed Whack, plus she has a hard-hitting 3 Amphibious body. Tangle kelp can be used much like a Landscaper to make large zombies less of a threat, and despite its fragile stats it can take out a zombie with 5 like a Smashing Gargantuar with ease, much like a Fireweed.

Against

Tangle Kelp has an annoying ability that can't really be avoided, so it's best to avoid Bouncing her at any cost. Having 3 and the ability to be played in the water can catch you unprepared, especially if you just had a powerful zombie there a minute ago. Tangle Kelp has extremely low health, however, so she can be taken out by nearly all damaging tricks. Zombies like Fireworks Zombie or Space Ninja can also clear her out. However, only the Crazy class has access to said cards. Hearty heroes can take her out with Knockout, which is even more effective if there's another plant in her lane with her. Beastly heroes can downright destroy her, or weaken her stats through ways like Nibble. Super Brainz probably has it the worst, having only Bouncing cards to remove her. It is heavily recommended not to use these cards. Instead, try to destroy her with Amphibious zombies like Swabbie.
