FloRas are offensive, sun-producing, manually-activated flower plants that create projectiles that can either yield sun or damage.

Overview[]

When planted, FloRa will create his first sun over the course of 23 seconds. After the 26 seconds pass, the sun over his head will glow. It can be quickly tapped to yield 125 sun, or it can be held down to release. The projectile deals 24 damage points. All subsequent suns require 25 seconds to charge. If left alone for an additional 12 seconds, the sun will become bigger and explode, dealing 25 points of damage to zombies in a 3x3 area.

FloRa's charge-up is decreased by a second for every flower plant next to it, for a minimum of 17 seconds.

If the projectile hits a Ra Zombie, then the zombie also explodes, dealing 50 damage in a 3x3 area.

If planted during a night level, FloRa will lose its offensive capabilities, and can only function as a sun-producing plant. Its rate of sun production is also halved.

FloRa is based off of the Egyptian sun god, Ra. Its name is a portmanteau of "flora" and "Ra."

Plant Food Ability[]

When Plant Food is used on FloRa, it will shoot a very large projectile forward. This projectile pierces through every zombie, deals 40 points of damage, and creates 75 suns for every zombie killed. Zombies that survive the attack are sun-infected, similar to Sun Bean.

Strategies[]

FloRa is perhaps one of the least reliable sun-producers (aside from Toadstool), and as such, should not be your only sun-producer. If it is, make sure to collect the sun, and only fire it once you have a comfortable amount of sun. FloRa is also one of the more expensive sun-producers, but it breaks even with its second yield. Again, make sure to collect, at least, the first two suns, so as to assure that you haven't turned a loss.

FloRa is absolutely abysmal in night stages, so it is wiser to choose more suitable options, such as Sun-shroom or Milkcap.

In terms of an offensive plant, FloRa fills a similar role to Citron. However, FloRa deals less damage and has a longer cooldown, but that is to balance out its sun-producing qualities.

As expected, FloRa works well in Ancient Egypt, if not just for his anti-Ra Zombie measures.

Trivia[]

  • FloRa's flower-proximity cooldown decrease is a reference to the belief that the Egyptian gods derived their powers from how much they were worshiped.
  • The projectile above its head is a vine-designed Eye of Ra.
