Shameplants are stance-changing, offensive-defensive plants that fire a projectile that explodes randomly. They turn defensive with enemy contact.

Overview[]

At first, Shameplants fire their projectiles at the rate of a Cabbage-Pult. The projectile pierces through every zombie until it explodes, dealing 2 damage points along the way. However, when the projectile explodes is completely random. The explosion inflicts 5 damage points in a 3x3 area. However, if an explosion previously affected the tiles where a new explosion occurs, then the new explosion only deals 3.25 damage points. This does not stack.

If a zombie manages to make contact with a Shameplant through any means, then the plant turns defensive. Here, its health drastically increases, but it does not attack any more. It will stay in this defensive stance until it dies, or after 20 seconds of no contact.

The defensive stance is triggered if any sort of zombie trickery and foul-play affects the Shameplant. This includes Boombox Zombie's music and Hunter Zombie's snowballs.

Shameplant is based on the Mimosa pudica, known as the shame-plant or the touch-me-not, which is known for closing its leaves when touched.

Plant Food Ability[]

Using Plant Food on Shameplant causes it to go into a defensive form, but it will be still be able to fire its projectile. The projectile's properties are the same as usual. This also completely heals the Shameplant.

Strategies[]

For a price slightly higher than a Laser Bean, Shameplant attacks very similarly. If you so choose, Shameplant can act as a substitute or replacement for Laser Bean, especially if Shameplant's sun cost goes below Laser Bean's due to seed packets.

Shameplant is unpredictable in its explosions (which don't affect Imp Dragon Zombie). These bursts do certainly help, however, and can take out zombies in other lanes, even if the damage is reduced. Shameplant should not, however, be relied upon for consistent damage output, as they can be effectively shut down when they become defensive. If you don't want this to happen, consider placing defensive plants in front of the Shameplant, or a Spikeweed if you want to utilize Shameplant's defensive form.
