Scarecrop is a plant found in Plants vs. Zombies 3. Scarecrops will scare zombies occasionally and attack zombies by lobbing pumpkins in the lane it's planted in. Scarecrop is one of the first lobber plants that the player unlocks, alongside Cabbage-pult. It costs 6 sun, which is relatively expensive. Its rate of fire is slower then than of Peashooter and Cabbage-pult, but deals more damage as a trade off.

Scarecrop's main ability is to scare zombies. Every 10 seconds, Scarecrop will grow big and scare all zombies in a 1x3 area in front of it. This will stun male zombies in shock for 3 seconds, or divert female zombies into another lane.

Origins

Scarecrop2 It is based of the plant with the same name in Plants vs. Zombies 2. Scarecrop was originally based off scarecrows, man-made objects made of hay to scare off birds from eating crops.

Scarecrop's name is based off scarecrows, the real man-made object, Scare, referring to it's ability and Crop, referring to the pumpkin and hay base of the plant, both of which are crops.

It's design is slightly different from that game, now having eyebrows and ropes connecting hay to the wooden pole that holds Scarecrop up. It's ability is also different, with it originally only scaring animal zombies off the lawn, now instead being able to scare all zombies.

Strategies

Scarecrop is a versatile secondary plant to something like a Peashooter. As the plant's attack speed is too slow for it to be usable as a primary attacking plant. It goes well with the Grapes of Wrath power-up, as it's scaring ability will stun zombies in place, giving stalling time. However, since this only happens once every ten seconds, try not to use it primarily to stall.

Scarecrop has a good synergy with Bonk Choy, as it allows Bonk Choy to continuedly do weak damage to zombies whilst Scarecrop lobs heavy damaging pumpkins to clear off hoards of zombies. This is especially better with a Wall-nut to defend, however with Bonk Choy's increased toughness, it is not the biggest problem if you do not have a Wall-nut.
