Plants vs. Zombies: Nature's Purity is a game released on August 1st for PC and Xbox in 2031 by Nevrade Entertainment and Popcap Games. It is a spin-off of the Plants vs. Zombies story after Plants vs. Zombies 3. It released free on EA Desktop and Xbox Game Pass, but with in-game purchases.

Overview

History

After the collapse of EA in 2029, a company originally known as Nevrade Entertainment, who previously had their hand in creating Rovio's Angry Birds Saga bought all of EA's companies. Allowing Nevrade to obtain Popcap as one of those bought. Nevrade immediately began work on a new game called Plants vs. Zombies: Everlasting, which would eventually become Nature's Purity.

Nature's Purity was announced in 2030 and the news was met with mixed feelings. Eventually, Nature's Purity released the following year, and it was panned by players, saying it was "too complex." Nevrade later sent out a statement to fans saying "I know this is a strange change, but you will like it. Trust her."

Nevrade CEO, Kaadon Unsiyon, said about the game, "It's a game of confusion. That's the point. We wanted this to confuse you. That's the point. Trust in the purity of natural processes."

Game Modes

  • Campaign - A story-focused game mode that has 3 worlds with 21 levels in each, depending on the Season.
  • Survival - A survival-type game mode where the player must hold out as long as possible before being overrun by the Zombies.
  • Multiplayer - A Versus-type game mode that allows the player to battle against other players, with the mode having it's own Battle Pass and Shop system.

Seasons

Unlike previous games, Nature's Purity releases content in seasons, each with its' own theme.

Season 1

Story

The Cloud tells the Bird to escape their purgatory and free the rest of the FREEWILLED.

Crazy Dave and Zomboss cause chaos in Reality as their time-travel mishaps turn into a collapse of everything that is reality, and causes other universes to be revealed. The Gnome King notices the disturbance, and sends his Gnomes and the Multiverse Zombies and Plants after Dave and Zomboss to bring them in for questioning. Due to all actions being already been done because of alternate timelines, all actions have become meaningless.

One Peashooter stands out. A Lone Peashooter. Do not let her realize her doom.

Season 2: False Universe

Gameplay

Currency

Plants vs. Zombies Nature's Purity uses Crystals Glitch-Crystal-Naturesas the game's currency. Crystals are given as a common reward after beating levels either in Campaign or in the PVP Multiplayer. These Crystals can be used to buy plants in the Campaign Shop, and can be used in the Multiplayer Battle Pass Shop as well.

Campaign Shop

The Campaign Shop is where players can buy Premium Plants with Crystals. Glitch-Crystal-Natures Premium Plants are added to the shop every so often, and sometimes have events based around that Premium Plant.

Season I

Nature's Purity uses the original style of gameplay, with the screen being horizontal. Zombies still move from right to left, and Plants defend the house left to right. Although the game bases the designs heavily off the Plants vs. Zombies 3 designs, sun production is based off the original games. The Stage system from Plants vs. Zombies 3 returns, with levels having from 1 to 4 stages.

Nature's Purity adds Agents to the lawn, where a character will stand at the back of the lawn and be able to be moved to any of the back tiles. This character will act as an early defense as the Agent typically doesn't inflict much damage to enemies. However, the Agent's movement is on a cooldown of three seconds, but the Agent cannot be eaten and will let the Zombie pass without being damaged. Agents can also use an instant damage attack every 30 seconds, this attack is triggered by the player when the button is available. This attack typically damages the entire board for 5 HP, although damages do sometimes range.

Multiplayer

Multiplayer works similarly to Versus Mode from Plants Vs. Zombies on console with some differences from Plants Vs. Zombies Heroes.

There are five lanes: The top lane is the roof lane like in Heroes, the middle three are normal, and the bottom lane is a water/pool lane.

Sun/Brains are automatically collected like in Plants Vs. Zombies 3.

In order to win, the Zombies must reach the Player’s House within 8 minutes, while the Plants must simply wait out that time.

Multiplayer Shop

Battle Pass

Unlike past games, Nature’s Purity’s multiplayer features a Battle Pass system. Each Campaign Season, a new pass is made available. The Battle Passes have to be bought each Season. Each pass contains many different rewards including but not limited to:

  • Seed Packets of either Plant or Zombie variety.
  • Agents (TBD)
  • Evolve Packets that upgrade plants (Similar to PVZ 1’s upgrade packets)

Unlike most passes though, Nature’s Purity’s pass rewards can be claimed at anytime, even after a Season expires.

Lawns

Aether Castle is currently the only lawn available in Multiplayer.
