Scrapped Worlds[]

Soaring Swamp[]

Soaring Swamp originally become the second world of the game before Midnight Cemetery, and it takes place in a very mossy swamp with muddy puddles. Two gimmicks are introduced such as winds and "Mud Attack!". There are 7 plants and 7 zombies in this world.

Plants[]

  • Puff-shroom
  • Sun-shroom
  • Fume-shroom
  • Magnet-shroom
  • Fairy Ring Mushroom - Unlike his current counterpart, he is immune to Myth Witch's effect and turns any plants into Puff-shrooms, specifically 3x3 area around him. The ability was taken from his PvZ3 counterpart, so it was scrapped due to being "unoriginal".
  • Scaredy-shroom
  • Poisonous Wrath (Unused Concept)- A new mushroom plant which poisons all zombies on the field. Due to being overpowered, this concept is scrapped. However, this plant is found in the game files, and it's still used when the player hacks the game.

Zombies[]

  • Screen Door Zombie - Similar to his current counterpart.
  • Ghost Zombie - This zombie was invisible during the gameplay until she attacks your defenses. This zombie's ability was scrapped due to its unoriginality (because it was ported from PvZ Travel) and eventually use Haunting Zombie's ability in PvZ3.
  • Landscaper - Similar to his current counterpart, he sprays herbicide at plants. But unlike his current counterpart tough, the herbicide only stun two plants in his lane and does not taking any damage. This zombie was later moved to Sporty Savannah and his ability was tweaked to make it more original.
  • Myth Witch (Unused Concept)- This zombie transforms any plants into weak Puff-shrooms. It was scrapped due to its unoriginality being a zombie counterpart of Witch Hazel or Fairy Ring Mushroom.
  • Trapper Zombie - Returned from PvZH, this zombie throws bear traps at plants to stun them for a temporary time. This concept was scrapped due to unoriginality, basically a reskin of Fish Thrower Imp from Journey to the West, except has an ability to throw them everywhere in-front of him like Octo Zombie. But the zombie itself may come back with new ability.
  • Camouflage Zombie - This zombie disguises himself as a tree, stuns plants when he's encountered until he attacks. This concept eventually moved on to Bush Zombie, a zombie encountered in Wild River.
  • Gizzard Lizard  (Unused Concept)- Similar to his current counterpart, he shoots poison vomits that poisons plants in their tiles, similar to Catapult Zombie. This zombie was later moved to Sporty Savannah and then removed from the game entirely after several updates.

Gimmicks[]

  • Winds - Winds are originally first introduced in this area before the concept was moved to Tourist Park in several updates. They push back most plants one column to the left.
  • "Mud Attack!" - This gimmick was a surprise attack where random zombies raises up from the underground in random columns, covered in mud. This idea was later used for "Necromancy!" surprise attack where Basic Zombies will cover in dirt after rising up from the ground.

Scrapped Plants[]

Ghost Pepper[]

Ghost Pepper was used to be an usable plant in the game, and she was first encountered in Midnight Cemetery in Path B. Her ability stays the same from Plants vs. Zombies 2. However, she was removed from the game replaced with Toadstool in few updates, and she become a cameo during Day of the Dead event in the same area.

Ahorn[]

Ahorn was the sixth plant obtained in Sporty Savannah. He will use his horn to make Cheerleader Zombies fall to the ground during their pyramid form. It was eventually scrapped due to being used without the permission from the inactive creator.

Steel Magnolia[]

Returned from Plants vs. Zombies Heroes, Steel Magnolia is an environment modifier plant who creates a hard tile that can be planted on and cannot leaving a crater once Miner Zombie hits the plant, first obtained in Construction Zone. This plant got scrapped along with Miner Zombie because the creator came up with a better idea within the world itself.

Smoosh-shroom[]

Returned from Plants vs. Zombies Heroes, Smoosh-shroom will use his hammerhead to smash zombies in front of him, as well with Digger Zombies when digging underground. This was removed from the game due to being an upgraded version of Squash, because Squash cannot attack Digger Zombie when digging underground.

Leek[]

Leek is a plant from Wild River who creates a water tile that drowns zombies in few seconds. This was removed for unknown reason, but eventually replaced with Watercressure.

Scrapped Zombies[]

Actor Zombie[]

Returned from Plants vs. Zombies 3, Actor Zombie was the final unique zombie encountered in Midnight Cemetery. Before he dies, he will use his death monologue for 10 seconds to protect other zombies behind him. This zombie was removed in 1.5.9 update due to the decreased number of levels.

Blowgun Imp[]

Returned from Plants vs. Zombies Heroes, Blowgun Imp shoots bullets at plants which damage them. This idea was scrapped due to being a Peashooter Zombie clone, but also combined with Hunter Zombie, since after few steps, he start firing bullets at your defenses before one of them eliminated completely.
