Plot

In three stories, go stop Dr.Zomboss and various enemies

Zombie Begins:After a mango shroom dies by falling in the zombie creator, the plants help magno shroom deal with the loss, meanwhile, Dr.Zomboss has caused a fellow newspaper zombie to become intelligent, so he can create false news, and Crazy Dave is now framed for mass murder, and the plants must clear his name and defeat Zomboss.

The living Dave:A new neighbor named Grave Norris who loves music stops by Crazy Dave’s home, but Chomper gets suspicious and thinks that the neighbor is a zombie, and he was right. Coincidentally, items start turning invisible thanks to a bunch of “Ghost zombie orbs”, and what’s even worse is that Grave Norris is somehow able to avoid Penny’s new built-in Zombie Detector. The plants must work together to find Grave Norris, stop Zomboss,and uncover more of Zomboss’ past.

Zomboss Forever After(Parts 1 & 2):This story is split into two parts.

Part 1:The head of security has had his brains eaten by zombies, and Penny’s birthday is suddenly interrupted by a fire started by the zombies. The plants recover every single present, but Crazy Dave has gone missing after the fire. It is then determined that the only way to destroy Zomboss’ new Zombot Ultra Crystal Pro is to defeat every Ghost zombie orb powered zombie, which there are 3 of them, 2 of them being Spider Queen zombie and three-headed ghoul zombie.

Part 2:After the search continues, the plants discover that Zagino, Zomboss’ pet Zombie Rat, is the last surviving ghost orb zombie, and they do manage to find Crazy Dave, and they capture him. The plants then rescue Crazy Dave, but the Zomboss rewinds time to one day before the first level of the first plants vs zombies game. The plants must stop Zagino and Zomboss before they alter the space-time continuum and damage time forever.

Gameplay

The Gameplay is very similar to regular plants vs zombies gameplay, but a new power skill wheel lets you use various skills to clear obstacles blocking the lawn. There are different obstacles to use that can help or hinder the level. Magno walls:They can be climbed onto by plants, if they have sticky shoes dropped from sticky trainer zombies, and they can be used to get extras and you can even move plants up to where the magno wall leads to. Illusion googles:Once a plant puts on illusion googles, they can see stuff normally hidden by Ghost zombie orbs, and can use the hidden items against zombies. Animal Pits:If the animal skill is equipped in the skill wheel, you can dig up sand pits which contain different items, such as money, illusion googles, or even sticky shoes to climb magno walls. Fire Network:The Fire Network has two types of teleporters:Flame portals and Illumination portals. They allow you to take one plant from one place to another, but both teleporters have to be the same type for it to work. Some plant characters midway through the level also have quests(indicated when they have a yellow marker over them) which can be completed to help stop zombies. Plant characters that help out during quests are indicating with blue stars over them. There are also dangerous zombies that require the stealth ability. They go after a plant once they have been spotted. These zombies can be indicated by a red spotlight over them, which turns into an red exclamation mark once they spot a plant.

Zomboss Family Mansion

The Zomboss Family Mansion is the hub world of the game. It has various areas to go to. Story Doors:There are four doors each leading to a story (West=Zombie Begins, East=The Living Dave, South= Zomboss Forever After Part 1, North=Zomboss Forever After Part 2). All story levels can be played with up to 2 players. Trophy Room:Can be found on the left side of the first floor, it contains achievements you’ve collected. Arena Spot:Unlocked after clearing Zombie Begins chapter 2 level 3, the arena spot mode can be found near the Zomboss Begins door. It lets you duel against a zombie, and you can try to get the top high score. It also can be played with 2 players. Cabinet:The cabinet is found near the Zomboss forever after part 1 door. It can be used to create a custom plant with abilities of your choice. Record Player:The record player is found near the Zomboss Forever After Part 2 door. It can be used to change which plant you want to play as while exploring the Zomboss Family Mansion. The Shop:The Shop can be found near the Living Dave door. It allows you to buy new plants, new extras, and some hints. It also allows you to watch some cutscenes that have been previously viewed.
