Midnight Cemetery

Midnight Cemetery is the second area in Plants vs. Zombies: World Traveler. It takes place in a cemetery above the hills. Fireflies are present flying on the field with green lights and they don't effect the gameplay at all; just a pure cosmetic to make the whole lawn more lively.

This area has so many returning gimmicks from past games, such as tombstones, "Necromancy!" surprise attack, and nighttime mechanics. Tombstones are obstacles that can be damaged by plants and removed instantly by Grave Buster. They will spawn random zombies (mostly basic variants, Bride of Frankentuars, or Ghost Zombies) on occasion during "Necromancy!" surprise attack.

Day of the Dead gimmick might happen once in random waves without any warning, or even a flashing text on the screen. First introduced in Level 2-14: Dia de los Muertos, the whole lawn was surrounded by Ghost Peppers and Jack O' Lanterns in wisp form if this happened frequently, and several things might happen in the field with different chances.

Five to nine Jack O' Lantern wisps will appear on random tiles on the field. This event has 50% chance to appear and the wisps will inflict up to 900 damage before despawning. The timing before they despawn was decreased to 5 seconds.
Four to six random zombies on the field (except Coffin Zombies, Funeral Crashers, and Gargantuar variants) will turn into Puff-shrooms (Common) and Toadstools (Rare) instantly, similar to Witch Hazel's ability. This event has 30% chance to appear.
Haunting Zombies on the field will turn into Haunting Ghosts instantly and Skeleton Zombie will appear from the underground instantly. This event has 20% chance to appear.

There are 9 new plants, 12 new zombies, and 30 new levels to discover (20 normal, 5 levels for Path A, and 5 more levels for Path B).

Sun-shroom - Produce small sun and bigger sun every time she grows.
Fume-shroom - Firing strong fumes that piercing through screen doors.

Garlic - Diverts zombies to adjected lane after one bite.

Screen Door Zombie - Screen Door Zombie holds a metal door that protects him from any damage. However, Fume-shroom was his only weakness.
Haunting Zombie - Haunting Zombie will spawn Haunting Ghost upon its defeat, which has the same health as itself.
Mixed-Up Gravedigger - Mixed-Up Gravedigger shoves nearby plants to summon a zombie in-front of him.
Vampire Zombie - Vampire Zombie appear in his human form and bat form. He also can heal himself by consuming plants, but eventually will turn into a statue once consuming a single Garlic.
Bride of Frankentuar - Summoned past most of your defenses, then walks gently forward to her wedding.
Frankentuar - Frankentuar crushes plants with his antenna and throws Bride of Frankentuar after reaching half-health. However, everytime he crush a plant, a chain of electricity might happen which damaging other plants and stun them for a temporary time.
Skeleton Zombie - Skeleton Zombie will collapse into an obstacle after several hits, but if he was left there too long without any damage whatsoever, he will revive back to his normal-self to do a second chance to harm your defenses afterwards.
Coffin Zombie - Coffin Zombie carries a heavy, strong, and sturdy black coffin which protects him from any damage.
Zombot Haunted House - Zombot Haunted House calls a raid of bats and taking away most plants.

Endless Zone only[]

Funeral Crashers - Funeral Crashers look similar to Coffin Zombie, but will launch three Bride of Frankentuars upon destruction.
Gravedigger - Gravedigger shoves most plants backwards and bones might come out from it, releasing two tombstones in the back as well.
Wedding Imp- Wedding Imp fires lightning at plants and also create more number of electric chains.

Secret level[]

Secret levels are levels that can be opened by obtaining certain achievements. The levels taking place at Tourist Park during nighttime. Ice-shroom can be obtained in this level after being completed.

Brain Busters[]

Special Delivery[]

Special Delivery is a conveyor-belt level for Tourist Park. During this level, the player is forced to used all the plants that are in the conveyor-belt to pass the level. Due to this case, no sun-producing plants are present and no sun falling from the sky. Only playable in Level 2-3: Doomsday and 2-3A: Hallucination Razzle Dazzle.

Locked and Loaded[]

Locked and Loaded restricts the player to plants that are given within the level. They are only required to use the plants given to them in order to win the level. Even if certain plants given in the level have yet to be unlocked, the player still has the ability to use that plant within the level itself. This can serve as a demo for that plant if that ever manages to happen. Only playable in Level 2-13: Friday the 13th and 2-5B: Small Little Toads.

Last Stand[]

Last Stand makes a return from two -previous games. Just like its previous incarnation, the player has to plan their defense to stop hordes of zombies from barreling towards the house. However, unlike in Plants vs. Zombies, the player has to survive certain number of flags only with extreme numbers of Zombies storming the player's lawn, which makes it similar to the second game's counterpart. The player is provided with a great amount of sun and Plant Food as there are no zombies that will carry a Plant Food in order to aid the player from winning. Sun producing plants are not allowed in this brain buster. If the player is creative enough to formulate his or her own strategy, the player can win without the aid of Plant Food. Only playable in Level 2-19: Monstrous Midnight.

Save Our Seeds[]

In this Brain Buster, the player is forced to survive waves of zombies while protecting five endangered Puff-shrooms before one of them fades away. Otherwise, they will fail the level. Only playable in Level 2-5B: Before It Fades Away.

Endless Zone[]

Midnight Cemetery's endless zone is called The Haunted House, unlockable by beating Level 2-5A: Everything Is Magic. Starting plants are:

Originally, this area is going to be named as "Midnight Monastery". However, it changes into "Midnight Cemetery" because it's not actually taking place in monastery.
Actor Zombie was encountered here but then removed from the game entirely during 1.5.9 update. However, he will come back soon.
Ghost Pepper and Jack O' Lantern made a cameo in this location during Day of the Dead event, although Ghost Pepper was obtained here before in oldest version.
All plants you encounter in main levels are almost similar to all plants you collected in Night area from the first game, with an exception of Magnet-shroom and Garlic.
There was a glitch in Level 2-5B: Before It Fades Away when Day of the Dead happened and the part where zombies transformed into Puff-shrooms. When any zombies transformed into Puff-shrooms fade away for a couple of seconds, the player receive a game over despite the Puff-shrooms don't count as endangered plants.

Zombie Trivias[]

Before few updates, Ghost Zombie's appearance resembles to Sadako Yamamura, a character from a horror movie The Ring.
- This might be a nod to the very old concept art of a zombie from Plants vs. Zombies: Journey to the West, but now it was scrapped and replaced with the same one from Plants vs. Zombies 3.
Just like Plants vs. Zombies 3, both Coffin Zombie and Funeral Crashers have their same appearance.
Wedding Imp looks similar to Bride of Frankentuar's appearance in Plants vs. Zombies 3.
