The Hot Air Balloon Zombie is a zombie that can only be found in Arena and Penny's Pursuit in Plants vs. Zombies 2. He will advance to the 7th column when spawned. After reaching the 7th column, he will drop missiles which then targets a random plant on the lawn, killing it instantly unless its a wallnut class plant. Hot Air Balloon mainly tries to let other zombies advance. On the second stage, it spawns a Mini Hot Air Balloon fleet. In the last stage, the last added "attack" is when the missiles sometimes malfunction and crash land, resulting with 2 plants next to each other destroyed. After a while, he will leave the lawn.
He can't be stunned or slowed with anything besides Blover and Hurrikale. However, Hurrikale cannot slow it down by chilling it.
He is also immune to the following effects:
- Hypnosis by Caulipower and Enchant-mint
- Gas clouds
- Freezing or chilling
- Being shrunk
- Imp Pear's Plant Food Ability
- Knockback

Appearance[]
The Hot Air Balloon's first stage is what a Hot Air Balloon would look like. The zombie itself has clothing like Dr.Zomboss in the Lost City Boss. After every stage, the balloon becomes more armored to make the balloon more sturdy. In the second stage, it has some parts of the balloon covered with metal. The last stage has the whole balloon and basket covered with metal. It attacks by dropping missiles and they target a random plant.Almanac entry[]

Stages[]
Hot Air Balloon zombie has 3 different attacks.
- Missiles from above: Drops a missile which then target and destroy a random plant. Every stage make the zombie drop 1 more missile. It shows the plant(s) that are targeted before dropping them.
- Coded adjustments: Sometimes it drops missiles, but they malfunction and destroy 2 plants at a time that are next to each other, similar to when the Pterodactyl fails to fly and pick up their baby and end up crash landing, destroying 2 plants next to each other.
- Mini-Balloon fleet Call: Calls in many or few Mini Hot Air Balloons, and they act like balloon zombies, but release 2 imps when their Balloon is destroyed.

Overview[]
Hot Air Balloon Zombie takes 12,500 (At the final phase)and drops a missile which targets a random plant and deals approximately 4500 damage to the chosen plants(Missiles from Above), calls Mini Hot Air Balloons to block the plants' attacks (Mini Balloon fleet call) and sometimes the missiles that the zombie drops malfunction and destroy 2 plants next to each other via crash landing(Coded Adjustments). Every time when it takes 2000 damage, it has a degrade.

Strategies (Free-Edit Section)[]
Hot Air Balloon Zombie's main goal is to destroy plants that are troublesome to zombies so zombies can reach the players house safely, which can cause a lot of trouble to the player in Arena and Penny's Pursuit.
In Arena, Buffz are Fila-Mint and Appease-Mint, so it's best to use those during Arena to quickly defeat it before it takes out your plants. Also in the Ultomato & Friends VS Zomboss Tournament, Spear-Mint and Fila-Mint are also in Buffz. Also, take note that Hot Air Balloon zombie summons Mini Hot Air Balloons, so it might be a good idea to plant tall-nuts and primal wall-nuts to stall them. But in the last stage the missiles can malfunction and destroy 2 plants that are next to each other, so unless your plant has more than 4000 HP of is in the plant food effect, it will be destroyed. Luckily like when Z-Mech or Dr.Zomboss when they start to launch missiles, they point out which plant they are going to target.
Just remember that Blover and Hurrikale will not destroy it, instead stun it. If it starts to drop missiles or spawn in Mini Hot Air Balloons, stun it using Blover and Hurrikale to give yourself extra time.
Leveling up your plants is also a good idea, because doing lots of damage to it can make fighting Hot Air Balloon a lot easier.

Trivia[]
- Despite the almanac, when there are no plants on the lawn, the zombie stops dropping missiles.
- Like Cardio Zombie, appearance to the Balloon will change at every stage.
- Its first stage will have the red balloon with the face like on Rocket Science, Rolling stone, and both Balloon Zombies.
- The missiles the zombie drops are completely identical to the Rocket Science trick, with same appearance and face.
- Its second stage has some parts of the balloon and basket covered with metal and the face is barely visible.
- The final stage has the entire balloon and basket (+ Zombie wearing bulletproof armor) covered with metal.
- Its first stage will have the red balloon with the face like on Rocket Science, Rolling stone, and both Balloon Zombies.
The Mini Hot Air Balloon Zombie is a zombie summoned by Hot Air Balloon Zombie that acts like jetpack zombie and balloon zombie. It drops 2 flying imps when it is destroyed.

Overview[]
Mini Hot Air Balloon Zombie takes 320 DPS and has 2 degrades. 220 health on the first degrade, 100 health on the second degrade, and finally gets destroyed when it takes 320 total damage.

Hot Air Balloon Zombie's main goal is to destroy plants that are troublesome to zombies, then summon Mini Hot Air Balloons.
Mini Hot Air Balloons are meant to overwhelm your plants so you can't protect your lawn. As they come in few or many groups and have little health, it might be good to use powered Dusk Lobbers or plant food Dusk Lobbers. If they overwhelm you too much, use blover to thin out the crowds. Use Cherry-Bombs or even Grapeshot too if it gets out of hand.
