The Goop-shroom is a mushroom plant in Plants vs. Zombies: The Final Showdown based on the potted plant from Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare and its sequel.

It fires goop with a range of four spaces, behaving similarly to Fume-shrooms. However, it deals no direct damage by itself, instead leaving zombies covered in lingering goop that deals 1 damage per second and halves their attack speed.

Goop-shroom essentially functions as a kind of Snow Pea-style upgrade to Fume-shroom, but there are some differences, as it only reduces attack speed rather than movement speed (essentially improving defensive plants) and only deals damage through the status effect, meaning that multiple Goop-shrooms will not deal additional damage.

The most useful feature is that the goop is permanent. Once a zombie is gooped, the effect doesn't end.

It is unlocked after beating Night 10 of Hidden Base.

Origin[]

His name is a portmanteau of "goop", referring to the fact that he shoots goop, and "mushroom", the type of plant this plant is based on.

Appearance[]

A green Fume-shroom, like in Garden Warfare, but with a less aggressive facial expression and splodges of goop all over it.

Almanac Entry[]

Goop-shroom

Shoots goop over the zombies in front of it, causing constant damage and reducing their attack speed.

Damage: average (per-second)

Range: medium

Firing speed: very slow

Plant Food effect: goops every zombie onscreen

Sleeps during the day

"I keep being told I look unoriginal," says Goop-shroom, "what does that mean anyway?"

Cost: 125

Recharge: very fast

Plant Food[]

Goops every zombie onscreen. Considering it causes no instant damage, the effect is mediocre, but at least it's permanent for every single zombie hit.

Strategies[]

Essentially, it's a better but more expensive Fume-shroom, with a fatal flaw that you can't just spam it for extra DPS like you can with Fume-shrooms. Use one in each row behind defensive plants, and use other high-damage or AoE plants to back it up. Goop-shrooms + Fume-shrooms together would work decently well, and any kind of chilling plants like Snow Peas or Winter Melons are especially great as they will stack with the attack speed debuff of goop.
