Mesmerazalea is a premium Enchant-mint plant introduced in the 9.2.5 update in Plants VS Zombies 2. It was first made available in the Mesmerazalea early access bundle, which lasted from the 19th of December to the 3rd of January 2022, before officially debuting in Mesmerazalea's Mesmerizing Season which lasted from the 3rd of January 2022 to the 31st of January 2022, where you could get her for 250 seed packets.
It attacks by shaking an azalea flower from it's bush every 1.75~ seconds, which quickly floats down the lane (2 tiles per second), ignoring critters, robots & grid items before sticking on to the highest health zombie in the lane. Zombies hit by a flower are slowed by 10%, and take 20 damage per second (this damage bypasses armor) until they die, however, the more flowers that hit a zombie, the faster that zombie dies. if a zombie dies while having at least 2/1(at lvl3) flowers attached (non-basic zombies require 3/2(lvl3)/1(lvl6), gargs require 8/7(lvl3)/6(lvl5)/5(lvl8)/4(lvl10), and imps require 1), they are resurrected & hypnotized with HP dependant on how many flowers were attached.
Origins[]
Mesmerazalea is based on the Azalea Bush, a popular flowering shrub famous for it's beauty and lesser known for its toxicity.
Her name is based off the Azalea bush and loosely based off of a mind-altering product created from the nectar of an azalea known as "Mad Honey"

Upgrades[]
Plant food[]
Upon being given plant food, Mesmerazalea jumps up while her eyes glow before diving into the ground, transforming the lawn into a carpet of foliage which creates Azaleas on 1-3 random tiles* every 0.33 seconds, which have the same properties as her normal attack, but float in place until they time out after 2 seconds (increased to 3.5 seconds at lvl4+ and 5 seconds at lvl 8)or stick to a zombie. Giving plant food to other Mesmerazalea while the lawn is covered will not have any effect.
*Flowers appear more frequently on Coloumns 5-9.
Enchant-mint's effect[]
while Enchant-mint is on the lawn, Mesmerazalea shoots flowers every 1 second, her poison damage is increased to 50 DPS per flower (no difference if at level 10), the health per flower is increased by 500 DPS, and her plant food duration is increased to 10 seconds.
Costumed (China only)[]
When given plant food, Mesmerazalea creates a big shockwave that deals 10000 dps to all grid items on the lawn, and pushes zombies back a tile, similar to Boingsetta.

Strategies[]
At first, Mesmerazalea seems like an very powerful plant, however, her ability has some downsides, the first of which is her anti-synergy with attacking plants; Mesmerazalea can only hypnotize zombies if they are killed by the flower's poison damage, and if they are killed by most other sources, they will not be resurrected & hypnotized. (the only exceptions are other hypnotized zombies, hypnosis from Hypno-shroom/Caulipower, Zomboids/Tofu turkeys and other damage over time effects such as Shadow-shroom) Other than that, Mesmerazalea is ill-equipped to take on fast zombies such as Zombie Bull and All-Star Zombie due to her reliance on damage over time, and is especially weak against Healer Zombie, who is immune to her attacks and removes all flowers on zombies he heals. On the other hand, her abilities are very powerful against high health targets such as Gargauntaurs, blockheads & especially boss zombies due to her Abilities, in comparison to similar plants such as Caulipower, Mesmerazalea is much better at dealing with stronger units, as her flowers will not only always target the most powerful zombie, which includes armoured zombies such as bucketheads/poncho zombies.
In Ancient Egypt & Dark Ages, Mesmerazalea's flowers bypass any and all gravestones, and are able to hit jester zombies. She can also use her poison to bypass the sarcophagi and helmets of Pharaoh zombies and Knight zombies, hypnotizing them quickly and marching them against the undead.
In Far Future, Mesmerazalea is not a good choice, as her flowers are unable to hit almost all mechanical enemies (With the odd exclusion of Gargantuar Prime & Bug Bot Imp), and as such, you are better off using other hypnotic plants, such as Caulipower.
In Arena and Penny's Pursuit, Mesmerazalea is incredibly strong against bosses such as Roman Ceaser Zombie, Cardio Zombie, Z-Mech, and most notably dr zomboss' zombots, due to the flowers having no limit on their stacking.
