Acidic Apple Bomb or A.A.B is an explosive plant that was recently made available in the 9.4.3 update in Plants vs. Zombies 2, unlocked in the game mode Penny's Pursuit via seedpackets obtained from the Zomboss Grand Prize in the upcoming event: Rain On Your Parade.

Unlike either Cherry Bomb or Bombegranate, upon being touched he explodes in a plus-shaped range of 3x3 on the lawn, dealing heavy splash damage to armored zombies, while only dealing moderate damage to normal zombies. Afterwards, it will leave behind an acidic rain cloud in it's place, which will continuously damage any plant or zombie below it until disappearing after thirty seconds. Like the explosion, the acid that the rain produces will always deal heavy damage to armored zombies while dealing moderate damage to unarmored zombies.

Origins[]

Granny-smith

A.A.B is based on an apple, specifically the "Granny Smith" variant. Similarly to the A.K.E.E, it is intended to be pronounced as an acronym and not as the initialism (i.e. usually pronounced as the word itself instead of being spelt out with each initial).

The name itself derives from the fact that apples are usually acidic- especially since it is stated that green apples are more acidic compared to their red counterparts, while also obviously stating the fact not only it is an apple, but also that they are a bomb.

About[]

For more information about this character, see Acidic Apple Bomb.

Acidic Apple Bomb can be unlocked after the player gets enough seed packets, most of it which can be found in Penny's Pursuit. Similarly to how the Cherry Bomb was changed, their fuse time has been decreased and zombies can interact with the plant instead of ignoring it. However, his tagline has been changed as well, with "JUICY" being changed into a "JOOSHY" instead.

He also no longer produce acridic puddles in the range he detonated in nor explode in a plus-shaped range, but still retain the visual effects of temporarily leaving the lawn greyed and destroyed from the acid, and leaving bits of pulp on both the plants and zombies caught in it's range.

Upgrades[]

Plant Food Effect[]

When fed with Plant Food, Acidic Apple Bomb will suddenly gain an electric aura surrounding them before increasing in size and imploding in a 5x5 plus-shaped range, while dealing only moderate damage to all zombies caught in it. Afterwards, a giant, acidic rain-cloud is produced and will proceed to drift to the leftmost screen at a moderate pace, before eventually scattering. Zombies will be heavily damaged while plants are only hurt lightly from the resulting rainfall.

When boosted by Ail-mint, Acidic Apple Bomb's acidic explosion will gain an additional 80 DPS with an additional 40 DPS in splash damage, while his impending rainfall gets an additional 20 DPS.
