Dark Forest is the second world in Plants vs Zombies: The Wacky House. It takes place in a forest, surrounded by trees and overgrown grass. This world is set at night, meaning that no sun will fall from the sky.
Logs are new obstacles that are placed randomly on the lawn. They cannot be planted on, and straight projectiles like peas cannot pass through them. They trap any zombies which walk up to them. A log has 200 health.
There are five new plants to obtain and seven new zombies to encounter.
Its parallel counterpart is Sakura Forest.
Order of Events[]
After beating Tornado Valley, the house is sent to a forest, miles away from civilization. The player will find out that the zombies have stopped attacking during the day, and are now attacking at the evening time.
The player unlocks their first mushroom after beating Dark Forest-2: 100% off. With this, the player encounters their seventh and final element, the Mushroom Cap.
After beating Dark Forest, the player unlocks the shop. The only things available for now are extra seed slot upgrades and shovel refund upgrades.

Brain Busters and Minigames[]
Brain Busters[]
Two Brain Busters appear in this world. They can be found in:
- Level 2-5: Save Our Seeds - Protect the endangered plants throughout the level.
- Level 2-13: Special Delivery - Survive as plants are given through a conveyor-belt.
Timber![]
This world's exclusive minigame is called Timber! In these levels, a tree may occasionally rain down from the sky and cover an entire column. These act as obstacles for straight-shooters. The trees also block off zombies, until they are eaten. They absorb 2000 damage. Lumberjack Zombies can chop off the part of the tree that blocks them, and they can use the tree bark to deal twice as much damage as normal.
When destroyed, a tree leaves behind a log in the first, third, and fifth lanes.

Trivia[]
- Its original appearance had trees completely surrounding the lawn. Trees now only surround north, south, and east to the lawn. The lawn was also noticeably darker.
- Interestingly, the very first version of the lawn was very bright, whereas the second version was very dark.
- This is the only world in the game so far to be completely set in the evening.
- However, the final part of each level is in the nighttime.
- Dark Forest's original name was Tree Forest.
- This world, along with the other original seven worlds' Jalapeno difficulty ratings were adjusted.
- Completing Dark Forest adds leaves on top of the player's roof.
- This world originally took place in the evening. This was changed in version 2.6, in which Dark Forest was turned into a nighttime area.
- Celery Stalker was originally found here. It switched places with Fume-shroom in the 2.6 update.
- Puff-shroom was originally found in Gloomy Nights, however it was moved to this world, replacing Smallpeater and ultimately removing it from the game.
