Airbomb Cherry is a single-use flying premium plant in Plants vs. Zombies 2, introduced in the 9.2.0 update. Airbomb Cherry will hover and wait until a zombie comes under it. After that, the cherry itself will fall down and stick into the ground until it explodes instantly in-front of the zombies.
As it was a flying plant, this means it was plantable on water in Big Wave Beach without any help from Lily Pads. When a cherry falls on the ground, either on land or water, an encountered zombie located under it will gain a knockback, bound it back one tile away from it.
The grounded cherry will flash in white indicating the timer whenever or not it explode. After 10 seconds long, it will explode instantly, resulting a crater left behind the explosion (covers only a tile) and all zombies located in 3x3 area upon explosion will shatter into ashes. Note that the grounded cherry cannot eaten by any zombies, but the projectiles that come from the zombies can damage it (deflected projectiles from Jester Zombies and snowballs from Hunter Zombies for example).
Origins[]
It is based on a groundcherry, more specifically Physalis alkekengi, commonly known as Chinese lantern or strawberry groundcherry. Its name was an opposite from a plant name it based on, groundcherry, and "bomb" might represent its ability.

Plant Food ability[]
When being fed by a Plant Food, Airbomb Cherry will land on the ground instantly and explodes in 3x3 area, but also gain a knockback to much stronger zombies. After that, the airship itself will reload another cherry. However, it does not leave a crater after exploding.
Bombard-mint's effect[]
When being affected by Bombard-mint, Airbomb Cherry now deal 1800DPS on zombies upon explosion.

- It has some resemblance to Lantern Cherry from the Chinese version of Plants vs. Zombies 2.
- Coincidentally enough, both of them were based on real-life groundcherries, and both of them have a capability to hover above the air.
